Heena Song is an experimental filmmaker & visual artist who works with analogue film, digital media and visual installation experimenting both in the practical and theoretical perspective. Her practice seeks to reveal everyday occurrences, archetypical scenes to explore individuals' existence, collective memories and the nature of our relationship to the space we inhabit. Her work examines a variety of formats, techniques, the materiality of film/video, in particular, she investigates the altered state effect of experimental film/video. How cinema ritualistically alters the spectator’s consciousness associated with psychological and philosophical experiences, and subverts our temporary attention and reveals the depth and breadth of our existence, opening up a more comprehensive perception of self and object world.
